about

This song is called "Show Low," named after the small mountain town north of the Apache reservation in Arizona.  The town started out as a ranch founded in 1870 by business partners Marion Clark and Cordyn Cooley. The two men decided to part ways in 1876, but the claim to the 100,000 acre ranch was left up to the fate of a card game. During a game of "Seven Up" Clark told Cooley, "Show low and you take the ranch." Cooley played the deuce of clubs and "Show Low" ranch was his.
